The Music Academy and the Britten Pears Foundation
England's greatest composer was born here in Lowestoft and the school was constructed in his honour. As a result, the school is able to offer scholarships to those with musical aptitude and enthusiasm and a range of musical opportunities more usually found in private education.
Although additional tuition in music is not a requirement of scholars it is available in a wide field of specialisms. The school is a centre for LAMDA examinations. An enhanced Musical and, in some cases, Dance and Drama curriculum, is available for those with a particular interest in Expressive Arts.
Facilities include a purpose built and recently refurbished state of the art Theatre with Green Room and Dance Studio. Developments in the near future include a Recording Studio and Extended Practice Rooms.
